Reviews
The food was really good - nice range of choices. The alcohols were quite good as well - both sake and beer. However, the staff insisted to give us three a small table for two people (which we had made a booking beforehead) - and it already showed that (regardless of how slow we ate) the table won’t be able to hold all the food that we ordered. The vibe was good though - but the music was sometimes too loud.
good food. good service. good atmosphere.
ordered the 'please chef feed me' with wine pairing, came with all the signature dishes and 4 glasses of wine. a little bit disappointing not having steak for main, but the other dishes were of very high standard, especially love the watermelon tuna!
Went for their weekend free flow brunch. Food was ok, sake was really good. Food can be better but service was the winner.
TokyoLima, a fusion restaurant blending Japanese and Peruvian flavors, offers a unique dining experience in terms of ambiance and friendly staff. However, there are a few aspects that left a less-than-ideal impression during my visit.
Firstly, despite having a reservation, my party was seated at the bar in a dark corner with minimal lighting. It was disappointing to see empty two-seater tables that remained unoccupied throughout our time there, yet we were refused to be seated at those more comfortable spots. This decision was puzzling and frustrating, as it seemed unnecessary given the available seating options. If you have taken the necessary steps to reserve a table - you should be seated at the table
The lack of lighting in the corner where we were seated posed a significant challenge. It was difficult to see what we were eating, resulting in a lack of food pictures for my review. Additionally, pouring sake became a guessing game, as the darkness made it nearly impossible to gauge the amount poured, leading to accidental over-pouring.
While the food at TokyoLima is undeniably delicious, the portion sizes can be deceiving. The menu features a "large portions" section intended to serve two or more people, but in reality, they barely suffice for a single individual. This discrepancy between the menu description and the actual portion size was unexpected and disappointing, especially in a reputed restaurant.
Another issue worth mentioning is the difficulty in opening the entrance door. It was noticeably challenging, and I witnessed several girls breaking their nails while attempting to open it. Even for the guys, it required a considerable amount of effort. This inconvenience at the entrance detracted from the overall experience and left a negative impression.
Despite these drawbacks, TokyoLima does have redeeming qualities. The ambiance is generally pleasant, with a lively atmosphere and attentive staff who are friendly and accommodating. The fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavors in the dishes creates a unique and enjoyable culinary experience.
In conclusion, TokyoLima offers a mixed experience. While the ambiance and friendly staff contribute positively to the dining experience, the issues i faced detracted from the overall enjoyment. It is my hope that the restaurant addresses these concerns to provide a more consistent and satisfying experience for its patrons.
Very nice. Come to this place for its atmosphere. Loud and fun. Service was also good, though sometimes slightly uptight when done by europeans but we were served most of the time by very nice locals who did take their time to explain everything.
Food is fusion, most of it was good. We took the tasting menu, we had a lot to eat. Though I wouldn’t come here only for the food.
Cocktails were very good.
Overall, a very good experience. I recommend this place if you’re in HK.
Had a office party over there. Good services, Great Food and nice decorations
A fantastic combination of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. We ordered the feed me chef menu for 2 with the wine pairing. Great selection of plates including beef, pork, chicken, seviche, tartar, sushi, tempura and a great desert as well. Perfect wines paired with the plates. Totally recommended!!!
Everything is so tasty!!
Ingredients are fresh and the combination and sauces are all flavourful and balance …
